CPE Speaking One-to-One

The problem?

Perhaps you’re facing the CPE exam for the first time and you’re concerned about your performance in the Speaking paper.

Or you’ve taken the exam before and didn’t quite achieve the advanced grade you need.

If you’re already studying CPE in a class you’ll know it’s very difficult for your teacher to give you the personalised help you need - your teacher has many other students to support.

Perhaps you don’t have any qualified, experienced private tutors in your area that you trust to help you.

The solution

‘CPE Speaking One-to-One’ offers you the chance to work with me Peter, in one or more ZOOM lessons to receive support aimed specifically at your needs. You'll be able to learn the areas you need to work on, and have the chance to develop these areas over the course of our meetings.

• You’ll be given the opportunity to record yourself BEFORE the interview answering some introductory questions. I'll use this 'introduction' to identify your strengths and weaknesses before we meet in ZOOM.
• Before each meeting you’ll download our preparatory lesson. Each of our CPE Speaking One-to-One lessons include a downloadable unit of work consisting of language activities and useful strategies to help you in the exam. The lesson will also contain your CPE Speaking test question and an audio file with me offering you a model answer to the Part 3 two-minute long turn task. The lesson is designed to build your confidence for when we meet in ZOOM.
• ‘CPE Speaking One-to-One’ will give you one, three or six, 50-minute ZOOM meetings with me. During the first meeting I’ll give you feedback on your recording. In each meeting I'll carry out a full CPE Speaking test with you and offer final end-of-lesson feedback on areas to work on.

When does the course start and finish?

The course starts from the date you make your order. You have 6 months from the date of your order to complete your ZOOM interviews.

What do I need to take part in the interview?

You'll need to have access to a workstation with a good internet connection and a ZOOM account. You will have the best experience during the interview if you use headphones and a mic rather than relying purely on the audio system on your computer.

Is there a lesson I can download to help me with the interview?

Yes, each interview comes with its own lesson that you can download and use to prepare. If you want to get the most from your time with me I strongly recommend completing the exercises before we meet. These will offer tips and strategies to help you perform at your best during the interview.

Can I be sure my teacher is experienced?

That's a very good question! As I mentioned above, I have well over 20 years teaching experience many of which were spent supporting students preparing for exams. I was also commissioned by Harper Collins to co-author and be sole author of several exam practice books.

Finally, I am usually able to quickly build a good rapport with students and contribute to creating the kind of working relationship that will lead to you doing your very best during our time together.
